Visions of Paris in Winter

I know that all of you experienced bloggers may already know about little brown pen but I just found out about it today from a friend in Seattle and I am so drawn to the photographs.  I think the way the photographs are grouped by color is such a visual treat.  She really seems to capture what makes Paris beautiful.

Invitations Are Calligraphed and Ready to Send!

On Friday afternoon, my daughter picked up the invitations.  They are all addressed and ready to send.  She and her friends will stuff the envelopes this weekend and send them out at the beginning of the week. It now feels as though the wedding is just around the corner!  I can't wait to see how the calligraphy looks - I'm sure it is just beautiful!

Some Are Silver and the Others Gold

I met with an dear friend for dinner on Thursday night.  I feel so blessed to have a friend like her that is creative, kind, and full of life.  We went to the adorable Marguerite in Sellwood and then had dinner at Adobe Rose a New Mexican restaurant.  After an evening of wonderful conversation, I felt that there are great things to look forward to in life.  It was a night with a friend who is gold!

Turkish Rug Arrives Today

Today my lovely Turkish rug will arrive from San Francisco via Fed Ex.  I can hardly wait to get it settled in its new home - my living room!  I've waited a long time to get something like this and I think it will make my living room look more complete.  As soon as I get better at using my camera, I'll share photographs with you.

Love is Everywhere.....

In February, hearts seem to pop out everywhere.  I love this one - it seems so natural and a bit worn by the natural elements.  I have a charm bracelet I got years ago in Paris and it has someone else's charms on it.  I often wonder what the heart was for.  Enjoy the love of the month.

Beauty In a Photograph - Priya Kambli

I'm mesmerized by all of these photos.  The colors and the compositions.  I think Priya Kambli has a great future ahead in photography.  She also writes about her cultural balance between being from India and living abroad.  I'm so impressed with her work and her honesty in the story of what its like to balance between two different cultures.

Photographs on a Shelf

I am drawn to groupings of black & white photography in a variety of frames and a piece of artwork thrown in.  This is what I hope to do in my study once I actually find or take photographs I like.  I think it will be a nice change from the other rooms of my house.

Kitchen Ideas

All three of these kitchens are from Skona Hem and I love them all.  I am so attracted lately to that mix of modern with the warmth of wood and texture.  I especially like the modern wicker chairs in the second photograph.  I look forward to updating my kitchen soon.

Take Me On a Magic Carpet Ride

One of the most amazing finds that I am having shipped from San Francisco was a small 6x9 Turkish rug.  I had seen a similar one hanging in the store at Thanksgiving but was never able to inquire about it. The one I chose will look so nice in my living and bring a warm feeling to the room.  It's about fifty years old and has very muted colors - almost completely beige with brown accents.  I'll take a picture as soon as it arrives. We had such a good time buying it.  The owners son and nephew who were in high school, were so enthusiastic and just kept unrolling more rugs for us to look at.  I told the owner that I hoped to go to Turkey this summer and he said to be sure to let him know and he would give me names of friends and family that I can look up while I am there.  I would love to do that.  Meeting people while you are traveling is always a plus to me. Getting off the tourist track and seeing how life is lived.  This photo looks more like my floors right now and I look forward to a soft and beautiful rug.

Where Have All the Flowers Gone....

I had an amazing weekend in San Francisco working on wedding plans with my daughter.  As luck would have it, my sister and her daughter came as well.  We had an amazing girls weekend with all kinds of fun activities.  I stayed at the Fairmont Hotel for a great price and it was such a fun place to stay.  I felt as though I was staying in a building that was filled with history.  My friend met us for breakfast on Sunday and she told us the story of meeting a beautiful woman dressed to the nines accompanied by her dog who she talked with one evening while she was staying there.  The woman actually lived at the Fairmont and the bellman walked her dog for her.  Now that's the life!!
