Calistoga - A Retreat from Life

Its been ages since my last entry.  Sorry.  I've been busy (very busy) with the details of my daughters upcoming wedding in April. Fortunately, the wedding is taking place in Yauntville.  This is a small town in the wine country north of San Francisco.  Our favorite place to stay is in Calistoga - called Indian Springs.  It has an enormous mineral pool and mud baths that my daughter just adores.  We had two days there to recharge our batteries before heading back to the last few weeks of wedding planning.

Now THAT is a Kitchen

I find this kitchen alluring and delightful.  It reminds me of a kitchen in the South of France that Julia Child's might have used.  I am using her cookbook tomorrow to prepare dinner for my book group.  I feel a bit nervous about it but also ready for the challenge.

TIme to Jump Forward

We're jumping forward and I have to admit I dread it a bit.  I have to get up at the crack of dawn to begin with so it's always an adjustment in the Spring. The good thing is the lovely light afternoons that soon turn to evening - now that I adore!

My New Crush - Skona Hem

Lately, I'm finding so much inspiration from Sweden.  I love the simplicity and organic feeling of the rooms with the use of light colors and natural elements.  Skona Hem, the Swedish magazine, is filled with so many beautiful rooms and I feel so inspired to work on my own home to help it evolve into a home I enjoy.  I especially love the last photograph with a swing in the dining room.  What kid (or adult!) would be able to resist a quick whirl around the room.  Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Back To My First Love...Neutrals

Lately, I've been looking at my house with a new eye and I realize that I am actually feeling the pull of my design love from the very start - neutrals combined with many different textures.  I especially like the little Moroccan table - I could use that in so many places.  I'm looking forward to the summer and the time to implement all of the ideas in my head.  Until then, I will enjoy the beauty of nearly every photo on Skona Hem.

Early Wedding Gift

I sent an early wedding gift to my daughter and her boy - its early so they can take photos at all of their events.  But they have to send me pictures!

Dining Room Dilemma

Help!!! Next weekend my book club will be over for dinner and the group has now grown to eight.  My table is a round marble top table that I adore but I always have this dilemma when I have more than six to dinner.  There are so many things I'd rather be doing in my house but I probably need to bite the bullet and get one.  If you have any suggestions, please let me know. I could put the marble table in the living room but need to figure out what kind of table to buy.

Look What I Found...

Another photo of my old house - many moons ago!  I was surprised to see it on Braebourne Farm blog.  My style has gone a bit more modern but it sure was fun to see it.
